Civil Partnerships and Same Sex Marriage

Same sex couples have been able to enter into civil partnerships since the Civil Partnership (Jersey) Law 2012 came into force. In 2018 Jersey amended the law to give legal recognition to both humanist and same-sex marriages through the Marriage and Civil Status (Amendment No. 4) (Jersey) Law 2018.  This also made it possible for civil partnerships to be converted into marriage.

Arrangements for the dissolution of civil partnerships or married couples are almost the same and arrangements for children and financial settlements are the same.
