What is JILA and why am I involved?
JILA stands for Jersey International Legal Association, but it is really about bringing people from across the legal profession together, whether you are in family law, litigation, corporate, trusts, or, like me, private client.
Being on the committee has given me the chance to meet professionals I would probably never cross paths with in my usual day-to-day. It has opened up conversations with people in completely different areas of law, which has been one of the most rewarding parts of being involved.
Growing the community - my role
I have been part of JILA since the start and am one of only two founding members still on the committee. Even when I was working remotely from the Bahamas, I stayed connected, running our social media and helping things tick along behind the scenes.
My main role on the committee is running social media and communications. If you have seen our event posters, updates, or photos online, that’s me behind the scenes, making sure you don’t miss out on what’s happening.
📅 23 September 2025
📍 Collas Crill, Gaspé House
On Monday 23 September, we are hosting a panel event with Miles Preston at Collas Crill, Gaspé House.
It is a relaxed, informal event, no suits required, where you can learn something new and meet other professionals in the industry.
Why JILA matters
Most days, we are caught up in client work and deadlines, leaving little room for big-picture conversations. JILA creates space for practical, engaging discussions no matter where you are in your career.
If you haven’t been before, this event is a great chance to get involved. And if you’re a regular, you already know it’s worth coming back.
