We wanted to share some of the lovely feedback we have had from our recent conference on the topic of Modern Families:

"a big thank you as always for this year’s conference, thoroughly enjoyed it and is always such a big part of the 7BR marketing calendar."

"You chose such an interesting topic. It raised so many thought-provoking questions and each of the speakers explored the issues with enormous expertise and humanity. The commitment shown by Louise and Kaye in their journey to bring about the legislative change in Jersey was very uplifting. Their journey would make a terrific play or film. It is such a human story."

"I wanted to write and thank you for the most fantastic conference in Jersey on Modern Families. It was the best yet, in my view. The speakers were fantastic and put so much of themselves into the talks, which were diverse and interesting. Thank you for all of the thought and work that went into that."

"Lizzie’s organisation and friendliness as impressive as ever. The standard of presentations was excellent."

"Thank you Corbett Le Quesne for another great International Children law conference - for which RWK Goodman were proud sponsors. A thought-provoking day on all things Modern Families with lots to take away...First, just how quickly family law continues to evolve. Discussions around LGBTQ+ family building, international parentage, post-adoption contact and surrogacy reform showed that these issues are no longer niche – they sit firmly at the centre of modern family law practice. Second, the ongoing tension between legal frameworks and the reality of how families are formed today. Several sessions touched on the complexities of parentage and the role of judicial decision-making where legislation has struggled to keep pace with social change. Third, the increasing international dimension to children work. Parentage, adoption and surrogacy frequently cross borders, meaning lawyers and judges are constantly navigating different legal systems and approaches. Fourth, the importance of remembering the human stories behind the law. Hearing a real surrogacy journey towards the end of the day was a powerful reminder that behind every case, statute and policy debate are families trying to navigate complicated legal landscapes. And finally, one of the best parts of this conference is bringing the children law community together in one place. A great opportunity to reconnect with too many to name!"

"I was lucky to travel to the international children law conference in St Helier, Jersey where I got to spend time with some familiar faces talking all things parentage and surrogacy as well as meeting some new ones and taking in this view. My take away from the conference was that whilst we've come far in the last decade or so in this area there is still so much that the law is unable to achieve without further reform and some concerning trends arising across the globe."

"Last week I attended the International Child Law Conference in Jersey which was superbly hosted by Corbett Le Quesne. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the Modern Family and make new connections with fellow Family Law Practitioners."

"Reflecting on a fantastic weekend attending the International Children Law conference - was the best one yet! ...everyone I met made it a fantastic weekend!"

Advocate Corbett said "the feedback has been phenomenal! This conference was certainly one of our very best and that is in no small part down to our erudite key note speaker Mrs Justice Theis. Her keynote speech hit just the right note and was very interesting. It was not just the conference sessions which made the event so much fun, it was the friendliness of everyone and the support everyone gave to each other which was so nice."

The raffle raised £1,270 for Jersey Cheshire Home and the charity also received £220 in donations so thank you to all the delegates for their generosity and to the volunteers for joining us to sell tickets.
