As part of the centenary celebrations of women’s suffrage in Jersey, Corbett Le Quesne are sponsoring the showing of the silent film ‘The Suffragette’, at the Jersey Arts Centre on Saturday 18th May.

The film features the Danish actress Asta Nielsen, one of the stars of the silent era. Asta depicts a militant suffragette in a comedic portrayal of the story of Suffrage.

“The suffrage movement is clearly of huge historic importance, their colours also feature in our logo, this was something we consciously chose to incorporate when we started Corbett Le Quesne. As a firm we work to encourage women into the profession, so being involved with the suffrage celebrations ties in well with our ethos overall,” said Senior Partner Barbara Corbett.

The showing, which is part of the 13th Parish Festival of Independent Film and Music,  will be preceded by two short films from the Jersey Film Archive, shot in the 1910s and capturing images of Jersey over 100 years ago.

Tickets are available via the Jersey Arts Centre.
